New Administrator of Heiligenkreuz Abbey
September 14, 2026 

On September 14, 2026, Abbot Maximilian Heim resigned as Abbot of Heiligenkreuz Abbey for health reasons. The Holy See directed the community to elect an administrator for a three-year term. On September 17, 2026, the monks of Heiligenkreuz elected Fr. Simeon Wester—previously the Prior of Neuzelle—as the new administrator of Heiligenkreuz Abbey.
